The Restaurant Almàssera de Guillem, located in the Hotel Tossal d’Altea, is located in the rural environment of Altea (Alicante), specifically in Partida El Pla de Castell, a short distance from the picturesque Old Town. This privileged enclave offers an environment of serenity and contact with nature, allowing you to disconnect as soon as you arrive.
Our restaurant with views in Altea combines the sea and the mountains, as it invites both to undertake hiking trails to the Sierra de Bernia and Puig Campana and to enjoy the proximity to the Mediterranean coast with its beaches of crystal clear waters.
This century-old building, dating from the mid-19th century, retains original period features that evoke its past as a classic olive oil mill.
The Menjador Almàssera is our main interior room. Its design and decoration maintain the aroma of an old farmhouse and it preserves a large conical olive grinding stone and several restored presses.
The Altea Room is an area where the restaurant’s wine cellar is displayed, events are held and breakfast is served to hotel guests.
The covered terrace with pergola is an open outdoor space in contact with nature and with a privileged view at sunset.
We cook with dedication and regional character
Our menu offers a careful selection of dishes that pay tribute to Mediterranean cuisine. Local produce is the protagonist, and extra virgin olive oil from producers in the Valencian Community acts as the thread of our recipes. From traditional starters to Chef’s specialties, everything is designed to offer you an authentic and tasty gastronomic experience.
Among the starters, highlights include the assortment of regional and artisanal sheep and goat cheeses; the Alicante salad of salted fish (mojama, roe, anchovies), local tomato from Altea, olives and Marcona almonds; the salad of tuna belly, red peppers, regional tomato and pickles; the homemade cod fritters; or the delicious octopus with paprika oil, which are ideal for sharing.
The main courses include fish dishes, such as cod confit in pil-pil sauce, monkfish medallions and the impressive turbot; and Galician meats such as sirloin steak with red wine sauce or entrecote with mushroom sauce, as well as Iberian acorn-fed pork “pluma”, all accompanied by seasonal side dishes, and with alternatives for special diets.
Homemade desserts are the perfect finishing touch: the meringue milk cake with almond brittle, the cheesecake with nuts and fig jam, and the “Valor” chocolate cake with blueberries, or the French toast made with caramelized brioche bread and topped with nougat ice cream.
On the other hand, our daily menu offers a complete experience at a fixed price, which includes various options of starters, main courses and desserts for any palate.
Specialized in paella and rice dishes
Rice dishes are the heart of our cuisine. Prepared with fresh ingredients and the traditional know-how of the Valencian Community, our menu features everything from the classic rice “a banda” with cuttlefish, monkfish and prawns to the popular paella “del Senyoret” with peeled prawns, squid and monkfish, seafood paella with langoustine, black rice with squid ink or the traditional Valencian paella with rabbit, chicken, garrofó beans, green beans and rosemary.
We also have creamy rice dishes such as monkfish and prawns, Iberian pork “pluma”, mushrooms and grated truffle, and baby octopus, all cooked in an iron cauldron, which are enjoyed with intense and comforting sensations.
Each dish is prepared according to the necessary timing and techniques to guarantee perfectly cooked rice and a rich, flavorful base. For special occasions, rice with lobster becomes the star of the table. Customers appreciate the quality of our rice dishes, both for their taste and their presentation.
